Bonnie "Prince" Billy
How have I managed to make it over a year without posting some Will Oldham? A substantial number of bands I've written about owe a rather substantial debt to Will Oldham, so if you like a lot of the stuff here you should check out the man behind it all.
Cursed Sleep is from Bonnie "Prince" Billy's new album, Then the Letting Go. As with every record it is a complete reinvention of his sound, but remains distinctly Olham-esque.

Have you ever left a comment on a blog, then wondered where the conversation went after you left? For a while now I've thought of comments as the second worst developed feature of modern blogs (1st place belongs to the spam ridden plague of trackbacks. This morning I finally got around to checking out coComment, and it seems to work as advertised. You simply install a Firefox extension (or bookmarklet for other browsers), leave your comments pretty much as normal, and coComment does the rest. You can either track conversations on their site (convenient), in the Firefox extension (super convenient) or by RSS feed (extra super convenient). There are also tools for blog owners, which I'll have to check out. I've gone ahead and made this blog "coComment-friendly", although I'm not quite sure what that all means.

So, say you own the domain StopOrrinHatch.com. What would you do with it, knowing that Hatch is up for re-election this year? I have a couple of ideas, but don't want to squander a great domain. Leave your ideas in the comments, and bonus points if you are unfortunate enough to be a fellow constituent of the hopefully soon to be former Senator.
New Magnolia Electric Co.
Jason Molina puts out albums like a mad man. Just the other night I was thinking that it's been at least six months since I've heard anything from Molina, so we must be due. It was no suprise then when a little nugget of record label spam landed in my inbox with news that there is a new Magnolia Electric Co. record coming on Sept. 12, and a Jason Molina album coming out on August 22. Let Me Go, Let Me Go, Let Me Go is the solo album, and is similar to Pyramid Electric Co. or Protection Spells, while Fading Trails is a proper Magnolia Electric Co. record (meaning it has a band and stuff).

Hot on the heals of Grizzly Bear comes Black Bear. Black Bear is one Sam Beebe of Seattle, and while I haven't heard The Cinnamon Phase (it comes out June 26), it sounds like a winner in a Casiotone For The Painfully Alone / Unicorns kind of way.
Thanks to You Ain't No Picasso for the find
